Affinity is an exploration into architecture, and relationships between nature & human made structures. Human designed forms follow a rigid and geometric in form, a result of construction and manufacturing processes. This is prevalent in buildings, where due to construction methods, humans create large blocky mundane square buildings, with little character. Buildings become abrupt and detached from their environments and materials. Historical buildings however, have an innate beauty that attracts people from all over the world. Combinations of curves, patterns and beautiful craftsmanship give these buildings their significance, creating a harmonious relationship with their environments through a combination of natural and organic forms.

A naturally tortured piece of wood found in a forest, was used to juxtapose natures treatment, and humans processed materials. Situated in a semi-industrial environment, the wood is oriented to hug, stand, protrude, and interact with the interior infrastructure and architecture of the building, in an attempt to explore how the incorporation of nature affects the perception of an environment.
